Custom reports are vital for our clients in getting tailored information from the LMS that meets their requirements. Custom reports are built to your specifications, which means we at Noverant want to make sure we are completing this request in the most efficient and timely manner.
Below are a few steps to begin requesting a custom report:
1. Start with a detailed summary which should include the intention of the report. These details will assist in giving us a better understanding of the exact report you're looking for and could possibly lead us to an already existing report that could fit your request. Providing situational examples that reference real data in your LMS is preferred.
2. Provide us with a list of all the columns that you would like to be included in the report, including any special formatting (such as date formats)
3. If you want to run the report using any specific parameters, please let us know so we can make sure that those are taken into account during the report creation process. Parameter types are listed below:
4. Create in summary of the expectations, such as; who runs the reports, at what frequencies, or if any automation or scheduling is required. A detailed expectation gives us the end goal of how we should be processing and creating the report. This also decreases any chances of misinterpretation and possibly creating the report in a more efficient time frame.
5. Provide an example, in MS Excel of what you expect the results to look like, this can be created by hand with just a few records, and if able, use real data from your LMS. This exercise helps us orient the data relationships, not just for the report code, but your consumption and understanding of the data output.
6. Noverant Support will provide an update when the report is available in your Sandbox or Production LMS for review. Please provide feedback to ensure we have completed the report to your exact standard or possibly need to adjust it to better suit your request. This feedback also creates a better understanding of expectations with future custom requests.
