Overview/Good Usage of Tool:
Standard reports in the LMS refer to predefined or built-in reports that come with the LMS. These reports are typically designed to cover common data and analytics needs for administrators. Standard reports are readily available within the LMS and are usually accessible without the need for additional customization.
Standard reports are valuable because they offer quick access to essential data without the need for extensive customization. However, while they cover common reporting needs, they may not address highly specific or unique reporting requirements, which is handled through custom reports. Great usage of the tool includes gathering data for complete, incomplete, and overdue assignments for specific groups which can be calculated for various dates.
Self-Served Report:
As previously mentioned, standard reports are highly valuable for common data in the LMS which is accessed by selecting parameters, time/date slots, and assignments based on their status. This can be viewed as self-served reporting, which creates the ability to download the results instantaneously.
Location/ Understanding Parameters and Fields:
The Standard Report is a privileged-based access, and once given the privilege is located in the Administration drop down menu (Click the Administration dropdown, select “Reporting” then click “Standard Reports”).
From this next page you are able to view existing standard reports or begin building a new standard report.
In the creation of a new standard report, the initial section comprises crucial fields. Beginning with the "Owners" field, as it defines the groups that are established with users with appropriate privileges who can access the report for making changes to the report.
Standard reports present results for active users unless the "Report on Inactive Users" option is activated, at which point only inactive users are displayed. If necessary, it is advisable to generate two distinct standard reports for Inactive and Active Users in such scenarios.
To complete a standard report, begin by selecting the report parameters. This process involves choosing the assignment "type" and the necessary status. The "Items" textbox comes pre-filled with "Any Assignment," allowing the manual input of an assignment name. Furthermore, specific time frames can be chosen from the drop-down menu to enhance the precision of data collection.*Notice the green “Add Parameter” button. This is used for adding the same type and items for more results based on “and/or” options. With the first parameters set you can add next parameters using “and” which allows another assignment specific for the results. There is also an opportunity for “or” option when adding another parameter, which gives alternative results based on selected type and item for that parameter.*
In conclusion, as this is only an introduction to the standard report, this tool serves as a great tool for establishing quick information on users with assignments and time windows. We advise on reaching out to Noverant Support if needing more assistance with creating a standard report to your liking.
